M.A.S.K. 1st SERIES (1985) |
|
This was the 1st and overall best of the M.A.S.K. toys. All were major characters and vehicles that appeared in the series. Great build quality and tons of play value. The original releases of these vehicles will have smaller Masks that resemble the show. For later releases, the Masks were enlarged and had a portion that fit over the chest. It’s unknown whether this was done to prevent swallowing masks, losing them, or some combination. Aesthetically I prefer the original designs although I don’t believe the value changes for the toys. |

M.A.S.K. 2nd SERIES (1986) |
|
The second series of toys tied in with the 2nd season of the show, with the exception of Hurricane, which appeared toward the end of the 1st season (Episode 29 where it is named “Nightstalker”) and interestingly, appears in the opening credits of the show!. Once again, the toys retained great quality, and really looked like the actual vehicles! |

M.A.S.K. "RACING SERIES" |
|
This series of vehicles all centered around a racing theme. By this time in the show, all the characters knew each other and were competing in some sort of race each week. Personally, I think the designers had really nailed it by now, because this line really had some of the most creative and intricate toys. Bulldog, Razorback, Wildcat, Manta -- they all had some serious changing abilities and goodies. And finally MANTA! A vehicle that has appeared in the show since the opening credits of the first show finally gets a toy release! About time! |

M.A.S.K. "SPLIT SECONDS" |
|
These
vehicles never appeared in the TV show. The "Split Second" line was
slightly different from the previous series', as they all split into 2
different vehicles. Each set came with a driver and a mask that called their
"Splitting Image" to drive the 2nd vehicle. From a toy standpoint,
many of these really lacked imagination; you see the genesis of this line in
Meteor (which is probably the weakest of the 3rd series). Also
interesting is the difference in box art for this line. The European releases
of the boxes features artwork that keeps the same theme as the first three
series style. For the US, the images were given a more “high tech” look. |

M.A.S.K. "LASER COMMAND" |
|
Laser Command was and experimental M.A.S.K. vehicle that used infra-red LEDs to trigger exploding parts. The vehicles didn't transform, per-se, unless you count Hornet which becomes a crate (?). |
